Access 2002 Is Access the Right Tool for My Project?

Objective:
This course provides a general overview of what Access can do. The intention is to help students determine whether Access is the right tool for their needs. Students gain an introduction to the basics of Access, including the seven components of an Access database.

Prerequisite Skills:
Comfortable with the Windows environment.

Course Description:
If you're in charge of managing a process that has you scrambling to find and update information from a variety of places, Access could make your job easier. In Access, you can create a database to collect a wide range of information related to a particular subject or purpose, such as planning an event, managing expenses, or tracking inventory. You can then manage all of the information from a single file so that you have to update it in only one place.

This course provides a general overview of how you can use Access to organize, analyze, and present your data.

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Become familiar with the Access screen.
  • Understand database terminology.
  • Open existing databases.
  • Create a new database.
  • View data in tables or forms.
  • Create a new table to store data.
  • Add, edit, and save records in a table.

Access 2002 Getting Started with Databases and Tables

Objective:
Learn to create an Access database and design and modify the table component.

Prerequisite Skills:
Comfortable with the Windows environment.

Course Description:
Do you need to learn how to plan a database, determine what information to include in the database, and decide how that information should be organized? Do you know what you need to include in your database but aren't sure how to create it?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Plan a database.
  • Create a new database.
  • Create a new table to store your data.
  • Add records to a table.
  • Modify, save, and delete records in a table.
  • Open existing tables.
  • Modify and save tables.
  • Use wizards to create a database or table.

Objective:
Learn to create more advanced tables and apply various functions such as searching, customizing data properties, defining relationships, enforcing referential integrity, working with subdatasheets, importing, and linking.

Prerequisite Skills:
Comfortable creating Access databases and simple tables.

Course Description:
Do you want to manipulate and customize your tables to make them more effective? Do you want to learn to use more advanced functions such as searching, customizing data properties, defining relationships, importing, and linking?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Create hyperlink and lookup fields.
  • Define data type properties.
  • Create, define, and modify table relationships.
  • Enforce referential integrity to ensure records in related tables are updated properly.
  • Work with subdatasheets to view related information in a nested table.
  • Import data into a table.
  • Link a table to another file.
  • Search for records in a table.

Objective:
Learn to create and modify forms using AutoForm, the Form Wizard, and Design View.

Course Description:
Do you want to make a data entry in Access easier? Do you want to learn about the different types of forms you can create and the different methods for creating them?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Understand forms and form types.
  • Understand the controls you can use to enter data or view information in a form.
  • Navigate through existing forms in Form view, Datasheet view, and Design view.
  • Sort and filter data.
  • Add, modify, delete, and save records.

  • Define the form display size to match the size of your monitor.
