Our Courseware
The
quality of the courseware used in a computer training session directly
impacts the overall quality and usefulness of the course. The best
materials are those that successfully support classroom instruction,
but also serve as an effective reference guide after class.
Elert
& Associates meets this goal with detailed courseware
containing open-ended procedures that students can easily
apply to their own projects and files.
Scenario-Based
vs. Open-Ended Instructions
How
often have you understood a concept in the classroom, as the instructor
led you through an exercise using a specific practice file, but
found yourself unable to apply the same skill to your own work when
you returned to your desk?
This
happens because scenario-based procedures common in many training
materials are often too restrictive to be useful as a follow-up
reference.
"The
materials were excellent - extremely detailed and
well organized; easy to find information and follow
what the instructor covered in class."

Elert
& Associates' courseware is different. Using
an approach we call cross-functional instructional design,
we create materials that are focused enough for in-class instruction,
but also general enough for learners to apply to their own work.
Our
procedures are detailed and open-ended, helping learners to understand
why they are completing the steps and what choices
are available, rather than simply directing them through the selections
to make in a specific sample file.
Here's an Example

the link below to view a procedure from our Word 2003 Document
Formatting II courseware:
Example:
"Positioning Graphics
in Relation to Text" procedure
Notice
that the instructions actually describe how each wrapping style
affects the graphic and text around it. Some training providers'
materials would simply tell you which option to choose to make your
file look like the example in the book. Ours explains which option
to choose to make your own document look the way you
want it to look!
