Excel 2003 Formatting Spreadsheets

Objective

Learn the formatting techniques necessary to enhance the way data displays on a worksheet and in print.

Prerequisite Skills

Comfortable with general Excel capabilities. Familiarity with basic functions and formulas is helpful, though not required.

Course Description

Do you want your worksheets to look more professional? Do you want to call special attention to certain areas of your spreadsheet?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Change column width and row height.

  • Adjust the position of contents within a cell.

  • Make text display vertically or at an angle, rather than horizontally.

  • Enhance your worksheet with borders and shading.

  • Change the font including type, size, and color.

  • Copy formatting from one area to another.

  • Format numbers with percent symbols, commas, and dollar signs.

  • Adjust date and numeric formats.

  • Conditionally format data to automatically apply different formatting to cells that meet specific criteria.

  • Use ready-made formats to enhance your spreadsheets.

  • Automatically correct spelling errors.

  • Hide or display gridlines.

  • Change the page orientation.

  • Force the worksheet to fit on a specific number of pages.

  • Center the worksheet on the page.

  • Add headers and footers to display when you print the worksheet.

  • Preview the worksheet in final form before printing and, if necessary, adjust page breaks.
