PowerPoint 2002 Getting Started

Objective:
Learn the terminology of Microsoft PowerPoint and develop the skills to create and work with basic presentations.

Prerequisite Skills:
Comfortable with the Windows environment.

Course Description:
Do you want to create eye-catching presentations? Do you want to give your audience handouts of your slides? Do you want to learn to navigate in PowerPoint 2002?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Understand the different presentation materials available in PowerPoint.
  • Understand PowerPoint's menus, toolbars, and Task Panes.
  • Work with the various PowerPoint views.
  • Create a new presentation.
  • Use the AutoContent Wizard as the basis for a new presentation.
  • Move from one slide to another.
  • Add and modify text on a slide.
  • Undo an action.
  • Delete a slide you no longer need.
  • Open, edit, save, and delete presentations.
  • Work with slide layouts and placeholders.
  • Add new slides to a presentation.
  • Rearrange slides in a presentation.
  • Spell check a presentation.
  • Print a presentation.
  • Use on-line help to answer your PowerPoint questions.

PowerPoint 2002 Formatting Presentations

Objective:
Learn to format presentations using the text, bullets and numbering, and color options, as well as applying predefined templates.

Prerequisite Skills:
Comfortable with basic PowerPoint capabilities.
(Suggested Course: PowerPoint 2002 Getting Started)

Course Description:
Do you want your presentations to really capture your audience's attention? Do you want to design your presentation so that the same text or graphic (e.g., a logo) appears in the same spot on every slide? Do you want to learn which colors work best together?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Format text and bullets on your slides.
  • Replace one font with another throughout your presentation.
  • Adjust the text size to fit the slide.
  • Add clip art and other graphics to a slide.
  • Consistently format slides using the Slide Master and Title Master.
  • Use PowerPoint's Design templates to enhance the look of a presentation.
  • Select a Presentations template to help you build the content of a presentation.
  • Change the look of a presentation by applying a different color scheme.
  • Apply a shaded, textured, patterned, or picture background to your slides.
  • Save your formatting as a Design template so you can apply the same choices to future presentations.

PowerPoint 2002 Animating Presentations

Objective:
Learn to use the capabilities of PowerPoint for animating your presentations.

Prerequisite Skills:
Comfortable with PowerPoint and its formatting capabilities.

Course Description:
Are you planning to use PowerPoint slides for a live presentation to an audience? Do you want to learn how to use slide transitions and animation effects to liven up the presentation and help capture your audience's attention?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Understand the different animation options and when and why you would use them.
  • Add transitions to move from one slide or object to the next.
  • Select an animation scheme to easily animate the objects on your slides.
  • Customize the animation for individual slides or slide objects.
  • Modify the animation timings.
  • Add motion path effects to objects on a slide.
  • Use action settings and action buttons to jump to other slides, files, or Web pages.

  • Run a slide show.
  • Use keyboard shortcuts to navigate and work with the slide show.
  • Hide slides for a particular audience.
  • Set slide timings.
  • Set up a slide show to run automatically.
  • Record a voice narration to play during a presentation.
  • Add a video or sound clip to a slide.
  • Create custom shows for specific audiences.
  • Create and print notes and handouts for the presentation.
  • Use the Meeting Minder to take notes and record action items during the presentation.
  • Use the Slide Navigator to go to a specific slide when necessary.
  • Use the pen to make temporary annotations on a slide.
  • Pack up a presentation to run on another computer.

  • Use tabs to align information on a slide.
  • Organize information on a slide in a table.
  • Add headers and footers to your slides, notes, and handouts.

  • Create transparent backgrounds for imported pictures.
