Project 2002 Creating a Project Plan

Objective:
Understand the advantages of using Project 2002 to manage a project and learn to use Project to create a basic project plan.

Prerequisite Skills:

  • Comfortable with the Windows environment.
  • Familiar with basic project management concepts.

Course Description:
In this course, learn how several basic project management skills work together with using Project 2002 as a tool. Become familiar with the Project 2002 environment; then learn the right way to start a project by defining project information, properties, and calendars. Finally, learn how to add tasks and resources to your project plan.

Project 2002 Refining a Project Plan

Objective:
Learn to use the capabilities of Project 2002 to refine and improve your project plan.

Prerequisite Skills:
Familiar with project management concepts and with using Microsoft Project to create a simple project plan.

Course Description:
You have the basics of your project plan down, but now you need to refine the project with more information. In this course, learn to refine task relationships, enter lag or lead time, apply constraints, assign costs, and work with resource information.

  • Enter milestones.

Course Description:
What is a critical path? How do you use the critical path to help you manage your project? In this course, learn to locate the critical path and use different methods of shortening the project plan. Also, learn to analyze your resources and locate and reduce overallocation.

Your project is finally underway; now, how do you make sure that you finish the project on time? In this course, learn several methods for tracking your project's progress. Then learn how to analyze the progress of the project and how to adjust the plan when/if problems arise.
