Windows 7: Moving from Windows XP

Objective

Learn to use the new features of Windows 7 and to navigate in the Windows 7 environment.

Prerequisite Skills

Comfortable with the Windows XP environment (or with another earlier version of Windows).

Course Description

Are you upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7? Do you need to learn how to work with programs and find your files in this new operating system?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Customize the desktop appearance and the Windows theme.

  • Understand the components of the Start menu.

  • Pin a program to the Start menu for easy access.

  • Search for programs, files, and other items from the Start menu.

  • Customize the taskbar.

  • Work with Jump Lists.

  • Switch between open windows using keyboard shortcuts, live thumbnail previews, Aero Peek, Aero Shake, and Snap.

  • Understand the new Windows Explorer interface.

  • Organize and view your files and folders using libraries.

  • Use Windows Search to find items on your computer.

  • Add and work with desktop gadgets.

  • Open and find options in the Control Panel.

  • Get help with Windows 7.

  • Shut down, log off, or restart your Windows 7 PC.
