Moving to Windows Vista

Objective

Learn to use the new features of Windows Vista and to navigate in the Vista environment.

Prerequisite Skills

Comfortable with a previous version of Windows.

Course Description

Is your organization upgrading from Windows 2000 or XP to Windows Vista? Do you need to learn what is new in Windows Vista so that you can remain productive as you work with your files and programs in this new operating system?

Attend this course if you want to:

  • Understand changes to the Vista desktop.

  • Understand the Windows Vista Aero appearance.

  • Add or remove desktop items.

  • Identify the new Start button.

  • Find items in the redesigned Start menu.

  • Search for items from the Start menu.

  • Use the new Windows Sidebar.

  • Switch between open windows using Flip 3D.

  • View (or hide) thumbnail previews of open windows.

  • Work with the new Windows Explorer interface.

  • Search for files on your computer.

  • Understand changes to the Control Panel.

  • Use tabbed browsing in Internet Explorer 7.

  • Save Web pages and tab groups to your Favorites list.

  • Save multiple home pages for Internet Explorer 7.

  • Find answers in the Windows Vista Help and Support Center.

  • Shut down or lock your PC.

  • Understand User Account Control prompts.
