Windows XP File Management
Objective
Learn to organize and manage your files by creating folders,
copying and moving files, and deleting files and folders. Also,
learn to use offline folders to work with network-based files
while not connected to the network, and learn to save drive space
by using compressed (zipped) folders.
Prerequisite Skills
Comfortable with the basics of the Windows XP operating system.

Course Description
Do you know how to organize and manage the files on your Windows
XP computer? Do you want to work with network-based files while
not connected to the network? Can you navigate the drives and
folders on your computer using either My Computer or Windows Explorer?
Do you know how to search for files on your computer or network?
Attend this course if you want to:

Understand file management concepts.

Navigate drives and folders and select files using Windows
Explorer or My Computer.

Use links to access common tasks and locations.

Display or hide the Folders list.

Use the tools on the Standard Buttons toolbar.

Understand the available file and folder views.

Create folders in which to store your files.

Copy or move files from one location to another.

Rename files and folders.

Delete files, restore deleted files, and empty the Recycle
Bin.

Search for files and folders on your computer or network.

Connect or disconnect network drives.

Use offline folders to work with network-based files while
not logged on to your network.

Save drive space by creating compressed (zipped) folders.

Use the Windows Backup program to back up your files and
settings.
